Last night in NYC. had the chicken & foie gras, lamb chop, and lobster
Saving the best for last. saw amazing art all the while getting lost. David Hockney’s exhibit was especially interesting with his different art phases, including his LA images. Saw ancient Egyptian artifacts and art from 2500+ BC, with the 2 hippos and the huge mummy tomb. Got to see the “Thinker” from the sculptures from Rodin exhibit. And I believe the Met has more French Impressionist painting than MOMA, especially Monet. And went the American Wing and saw the great Washington Crossing the Potomac from history books.
The Cuban sandwich Also consumed Mexican Corn and Chicken Noodle Soup. Voted best Cuban Sandwich in NYC. Might be the best one I’ve ever had. Yes, I heard there better ones in Miami.
I can’t believe how cold it is in NYC. This is the fourth ramen shop we’ve tried. I had the Triple Pork Triple Garlic Mazemen and wifey had the spicy red chili ramen. We started with the Japanese Fried Chicken. All three had big bold flavors, which I believe is the “go big or go home” thought. The chicken felt Americanized, along the lines of something orange with the sweet crust. I liked the spicy red chili ramen more than my selection with the hearty broth. I did like the big chunk of pork and the soft boiled egg. Next time, I’d like to try the more traditional ramens.
Iconic photo of the Manhattan Bridge from DUMBO Brooklyn. If you look closely, you can see the Empire State Building in the crotch.
Pizza near the Manhattan Bridge near DUMBO. We paid over $2 a slice. “Never pay more than a buck”.
Views from the Top of the Rock We got lucky and arrived when the crowds were small and stayed until a little after sunset. Check out my time lapse video.
Sculptures TIL a lot about the most well know Japanese American Sculpture. He volunteered to be interned during WWII. Amazing museum about an amazing man.
Yet another hot bowl of ramen noodle soup at in Brooklyn. Also had the boneless chicken, fried chicken wings, and a spinach salad. The boneless chicken was better than the chicken wings. The spinach salad was surprisingly good too. The noodles, the Ganso shoyu ramen, were ok, while the broth was much better.
Jian Bing 煎餅 at Shanghai Street Food. Very close to what we had in Shanghai, except for the USD 13 price and the added smoked bacon. When. I saw bacon, I had to try it.
On this Snow day we braved the unexpected lines at the American Natural History Museum. Had a great tour with Art. Saw big dinosaur fossils, model whales, and other animals and prehistoric items.
