Barbecue at Domestic in La Puente

Barbecue at Domestic in La Puente. My college buddies and I had a find a restaurant to have our annual fantasy baseball winter meetings. And I choose Domestic, since it was somewhat midway between LA and OC.
Most of us had the lunch special, which included 1/2 pound of brisket, a sausage link, and a side. That’s what I got, with the mac and cheese. TBH… . once I received my order, there were a couple of red flags - 1. bbq sauce for the brisket and the lack of a proper smoke ring on the brisket.
Though the brisket was tender and juicy, it didn’t have the smoke ring nor smoke flavor that one would expect. Visually, it looked fine. Tastewise, it was just meh . . .ok. I had such high hopes and was under big pressure from my friends with this place (since I picked it). The sausage link and mac and cheese were fine. Can’t really mess that up.
A couple of friends order the pulled pork sandwich. But unfortunately, they felt that it was a bit dry… . .
Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this place. But I would give it another chance to see if they would either improve or if today was an off day. Its too bad, since you see the big @fatstacksmokers in the back - so one of think they know what they are doing… . . @domestic_bbq_covina @domestic_bbq @yujiogasa @the_real_kesak @dwwong
