Was hungry

Was hungry … So we planned to trip to have barbecue at APL in Venice. They opened at 12:30ish (really at 12:45) and we decided to get there early. So… We arrived and got Nightclub-inthefront-baller parking (since no one was there) and got there first in line. Maybe I was dumb to expect a lot of people on this chilly Saturday morning - at 10:40. But around 11 or so, the line grew and by 12:30 the line snaked around with about 50 or so people - with all shapes and sizes and colors. Only smart thing I did was bring my tailgating chairs to relax while freezing.
Finally we were let in to order. We decided on the beef rib - of course. Then got the lamb chops and cornbread. Which should be more than enough for 2 guys. Right? Then I snuck in a last order of oxtails. I ignored the Google reviews of it being dry. Asians like and know oxtails - more about this later. The bill was crazy.
Then we ate. And ate. The oxtails were initially dry - I was disappointed. Then we had the lamb chops - which were amazing. Couldn’t believe it! They were the best lamb chops I have ever had. I said it twice. Seriously. Period. The beef rib was expectedly spectacular. And the cornbread was moist warm and sweet - just like all things should be. 😉😜 Then I went back to the dry ass oxtails. omg OMFG the oxtails got good. They were tender and juicy and perfect. I think what it needed was time for the meat to rest and reabsorb the juices and grease to become what it was intended to be.
Amazing meal. But we could only finish about a third. So much to bring home. Pro-tip- the bread under the meats is like GOLD. The bread acts like a sponge to soak all the juices and is soft and juicy… . @adamperrylang @heykbing
