Had barbecue with my relatives at one of the most popular American Barbecue restaurants in Taipei. As a visitor to Taipei, I don’t look for western fare while overseas. But my friends know that I am a KCBS judge and they know I have experience with barbecue from my time at @yeti and living in Austin. With the 11 of us, with the suggestion from American owner, I ordered 2 large combinations (1 slab of pork ribs plus 2 meats, 1 lb each). So I got 2 lbs of brisket, 1 lb of pulled pork and 1 lb of pulled chicken. Plus I got 1/2 lb of brisket burnt ends. Additionally the owner also complimentary threw in a couple of hot link sausage. We also got 4 pints of sides, including beans, potato salad, slaw, and mac’n’cheese.

Interestingly this restaurant had lines before they opened, similar to popular barbecue restaurants in the states. But unfortunately, they had strict rules for their patrons. Like no photos inside, everyone had to be there present to order, etc. I had a niece who was arriving late and they wouldn’t let her sit with us when she arrived. I understand the need to manage “turns” in a restaurant. But it just sucked for us. So we decided to order to-go and go somewhere else to eat.
