Daikokuya has the best ramen in Downtown Los Angeles. You’ll see crowds waiting for a table or a stool.

The soup base at Daikokuya is quite good. But you can take it to another notch with a more kotteri – heavier soup base that has more flavor. The pork, standard in all ramen, is good and has the right mix between fat and meat. But I like the egg the most – with the hard boiled outside egg white with the slightly runny yellow yolk. It really doesn’t get better than this.

I hope to try other great ramen houses in Asia, while I am out here.

What to Order: Ramen What not to Order: Sausage is ok – not that great.
