What is Xibo Xibo, which opened with much fanfare last year, is a Xinjiang restaurant in a post-modern, contemporary, uber cool, and nouveau space. It means the Xibo is an interesting place to eat. With mood lighting, the dining room offers an intimate experience. Xibo, located on the 3rd floor, also has a small outdoor dining area.

What did I eat? Their big plate of chicken with potatoes, also offered boneless for the lazy, is one of the more popular choices. The hearty sauce coats the chicken in each flavorful bite. I also enjoyed the lamb skewers, which had the nutty and spicy flavor from the cumin. Thank goodness for the Xibonese roasted bread, used to soak up the sauce. I also liked to cold rice noodles, a bit different from the heavy spiced dishes.

What I didn’t like Aside from the couple of dishes that I didn’t like, which is more of a personal preference, I really didn’t find much that I didn’t like at Xibo.

The Last Word Xibo is a bit different from standard lazy susan Chinese restaurants, with regard to the food and ambiance – that’s a good thing. It’s a good place to take out of towners, which is in the same class as the Yun’nan expat favorite Lost Heaven.
