Beijing, Do It True 北平都一處, Taipei

What is 北平都一處 Beijing, Do It True 北平都一處 is a northern Chinese cuisine restaurant which is located in Taipei. With a long history dating back a few decades, this restaurant is one of the more famed establishments in the city. With pictures on the wall featuring noted diners, like George H.W. Bush, other foreign dignitaries, and celebrities, Beijing, Do It True 北平都一處 – has been doing the same thing for a long time, and doing it well.

What did I eat? One of the things that comes to mind when having northern Chinese food is hot pot. Northern hot pot is distinguishable, from what I understand, for having sour cabbage (or sauerkraut), pork, and the unique tall steam/smoke ring – which is what we had tonight. Mr. G, who was in charge of ordering, made sure we also had the spicy pork and sesame rolls – their other “must-order” dishes. I also liked the long flat rice noodles, with peanut sauce.

The Last Word You could say that Beijing, Do it True is successful, because of the past cross straight immigration policies that prohibited the influx of Chinese cuisine to Taiwan. Since there was a lack of competition and it isn’t easily duplicated in Taipei.
