Huangshan’s Old Street

By The Thirsty Pig

In the town of Huangshan 黄山 (Yellow Mountain), there is the famous tourist destination Old Street 老街. The Tunxi district, which is the main shopping district, is where the Old Street starts. The rustic traditional Anhui buildings house touristy gifts, Chinese calligraphy instruments, tasty sweets, and “antiques”. You’ll also find tea houses, snacks, and restaurants. On one end of the street is the famed First Floor Restaurant, which is arguably the most popular restaurant in town. At the end of our trip from Huangshan and Xidi & Hongcun Village, Old Street was a nice change and a good place to shop for gifts.

This building was toward the center of the long Old Street area. Sort of the center meeting place.

It gets crowded almost every night

We found this cool apothecary with a gallery in the back of Chinese art. Interesting place.

The Apothecary that we found. Just like how they did it, back in the day. Each drawer contained special herbs used to curing almost any ailment.
