Boxing Cat Brewery Brunch, Shanghai
Sunday Brunch in Shanghai is a big thing. It is a hugh event with the foreigner and expat crowd. Though, personally, I like to sleep in on Sundays, so I usually miss Brunch. But recently, I was up early and got to go with a few friends to Kelley Lee’s Boxing Cat Brewery for brunch.
Boxing Cat Brewery is American Restaurant with classic American and Tex-Mex items. There are 2 locations, both on Fuxing road – west and middle, with the original and larger one near Yongfu Road. The newest one is at Sinan Mansions. I like the original one, since there’s a small but nice outdoor patio.
I had been craving for something Mexican or Tex-Mex, so Boxing Cat was the right choice. I was immediately drawn to the name Texan Wake Up Call – which had a pepper warning for being spicy. So, naturally I had to order it. Note to restauranteurs – if you have cool names for dishes, it will more than likely be a popular order. My friends shared the BBQ Pulled Pork Quesadillas.
The Texan Wake Up Call is basically a egg and cheese quesadillas smothered with spicy chili. I admit I was hungry to I gobbled it all up pretty fast. I wasn’t able to savor the complexities of the chili – yeah right! It’s a hearty meal that I enjoyed with a spicy Bloody Mary. The Bloody Marty was pretty good, too – I like how the 2 different spicy things went together. The Pulled Pork Quesadillas were tangy as well.
Next time, I hope to try some of their burgers and ribs and chicken pastas and anything else i can think of, in the future.
