서글렁탕 Pork BBQ
In the area of Yeoeuido, there’s a small dingy and dirty place called Seogeulreongtang 서글렁탕. We had some of the best pork BBQ that I’ve had in a long time.
The reason why I would describe it as dingy and dirty, is if you walked in the front door, you’d notice the smokey filled low ceiling dining room. Then as you walk to the back you see 2 more additional rooms, where it looks as if they expanded as an afterthought. The dark gray concrete floors was a bit littered with cigarette butts and other things.
But the place was packed with people enjoying the food. We had marbled pork sliced to be grilled with the fat. The fat was the juicy flavorful part. Unlike how pork is served at other places with the fat succulent, juicy, and tender, at Seogeulrongtang the fat was flavor. I think we have few large raw plates of the pork. I don’t think they served anything else.
On top of that, we all shared a bowl of Seollongtang – beef soup stewed bone in. I am not sure how we finished this, with what we ate just before.
How could the dinner be complete without soju and beer. Usually, I wouldn’t recommend mixing the two. But in an effort to pre-party expediently, this mixture will create a buzz quite fast.
