Most people don’t necessarily associate chicken with Korean food. But Korean Fried Chicken is a common dish in beer houses and drinking establishments. This particular chicken is spicy, quite spicy. The fried oily goodness goes well with cold beer and the spicy hearty flavor, or lack of, is the consummate part of Korean cuisine.

Check out the cool bathroom. Notice the tubes – that’s where the water comes out for the sink.

KyoChon Chicken was several restaurants in Los Angeles and New York. Just open a year or so ago in PuDong, KyoChon has entered into the China market. In one of the larger, and newer, outdoor shopping centers in PuDong, KyoChon modestly opened with a quaint sized one. With an abundance of other Western stores and restaurants, like Carrefour, Wagas, Paul, KFC, Coffee Bean and Malones. I think I even saw Nike and Adidas, as well.

Look for the sign and logo. As I was walking by, I drew a connection from the locations in LA.

The chicken ranges with different flavors, with sweet honey, savory soy, and spicy red hot. There is also a crispy rice chicken flavor to round it up. You can order the little chicken wings with drummette and wing or for the large leg pieces. They don’t have breast or things. I tried the soy, honey and red hot flavors, with the honey being my favorite. The spicy red hot ones were just way too hot for me. Thank goodness they had the cold radish cubes to help our tongues – but it didn’t work all that well for me.

These are the cold radishes that are suppose to help cool your mouth and clean your palate.

They also have sandwich and salads – and for the life of me, I have no idea why I ordered a sandwich. I should have stayed with the wings. The sandwich was awful, dry and bland. I guess, that night, I wanted to try different things on the menu.

Anyways…I wouldn’t go back, unless I had some Korean friends with me, but in LA, I think there are better Korean places for fried chicken.
