Jiang Jia Huang Niu Rou Mien 江家黃牛肉麵, Taipei
Traditional Taiwanese breakfast from the famous Yong He Dou Jiang and Dumpling & Noodles from Jiang Jia Hung both found at one location.
Located just a 5 min walk from my old apartment in the eastside of Taipei, Jiang Jia Huang Niu Rou Mien & Yong He Dou Jiang, is the Denny’s of Taipei. Serving traditional Taiwanese comfort food 24 hours a day. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to have breakfast, my favorite meal of the day.
So, I had to settle for lunch – boiled dumplings. This place doesn’t have the usual cabbage and pork dumplings, but rather flavorful leek & pork ones. Leeks bring out a different dimension in pork in dumplings. They are so flavorful, that you may need need soy sauce and hot sauce to accompany. In our light lunch, we also had tofu with thousand year old egg and cold tofu noodles. Next time, I plan to try the beef noodle soup and breakfast, which is what they are known for.
What I liked: the water dumplings What I didn’t like: I am not a big fan of hot & sour soup, but I’ve been told it is good.
