Japanese cuisine in Pasadena. Yakiniku. The best thing we had was the beef bone marrow fried rice. The grilled beef was very good. Great service. Would return again. . . . đŽ
American Whiskey Maker - with their Cool tasting room with pretty good pizza from . They had few different old fashioned including a peanut butter banana, Sâmores, strawberry cheesecake, and a toffee. I couldnât decide what to get, since they sounds interesting - so I got a flight to try them all. Unfortunately, after the first 2 - they tasted similar since I was starting to get a buzz. I think it didnât help, when I also ordered a flight of their whiskeys to taste, too. So 4 different old fashioned and 4 different whiskeys. It was a good night. Good to see some old friends in Seattle. Had a great time. Old log cabin was the perfect place to finish off the trip. . . .
Handheld meat pies from Piroshky Piroshky at Pike Place. Highly recommended by a friend, I had to try these immediately. Got the smoke salmon pate, chicken curry rice, and the beef onion. They were all good. Who doesnât like hand held meal while peruse around the market. I liked the beef onion - with my bias for the more savory. Clear skies in the Spring, walking through the smells of the gum wall of Pike Place with Piroshky Piroshky meat pies - the ideal day in Seattle. . . .
Ox Burger. Recommended by a local in Seattle. Tasty burger with an even more interesting texture with the taro stems. Solid. Also, saw Cole slaw on the menu and had to order it. Glad I did. Interesting menu with southeast Asian influences. I think it would do well in LA. . . . .seattle
Pike Place Market in Seattle. Very touristy. But I like it. Lots of local crafts and stuff to eat. Also they have these large bronze pigs scattered all around the market. You can âbuyâ pig foot prints
Brunch in Victoria. Of course I had to have a Bloody Mary. And since I was still in Canada, I had to have more poutine. Which reminds me - that when I get home, that I should try to order the âwet fri
You know I had to have some BBQ . . . While I was in the Pacific Northwest, visiting an old classmate, I was tasked to choose a cuisine/restaurant. So I picked BBQ and found Jones BBQ in Victoria, BC.
Check out this Bloody Mary. Looks delish - amirite???? But my friends thought the BM gross. Itâs thick and spicy and a meal all unto itself. They donât appreciate the nuances of this drink. Yummy! I t
This unexpected detour from our outdoor adventure was really fun. We went to the Olympic Game Farm to visit retired show biz animals and rescued animals. We saw and fed bread to adorable yaks, mean lamas, bears, peacocks, bison, reindeer, elks, and a few others. We stayed in our cars and threw bread, which was sold by the park, to these guys. Some of them stuck their heads inside our car and wanted more. We saw peacocks showing off their feathers, had ameome animal tongues licking us for more bread, and poor rain deer running to us for the last pieces of bread - we should have gotten more loaves. It was an unexpectedly fun experience that brought the kid in us out. . . .
Bogachiel River rain forest. A nice 3 mile loop. I wasnât planning to complete it but I passed the point of no return a long time ago, so I was begrudgingly forced to finish. Luckily I found a Gandalf wizard walking stick to help me along the way. This was a really cool trail with fallen logs along the trail. But there was mud pits every so often that I tried to avoid. We saw elk tracks here and there. But we didnât see any animals. I think the animals heard me complaining. This nature hike might have been the best one yet. . . .
Rialto Beach and the Hole-in-the-wall. Some of 20k steps later and lots of complaining we did a jaunt or walk along the picturesque and driftwood strewn beach. We almost made it to the Hole-in-the-wall, but it was getting late and the tides were coming in(or out - not sure, or maybe I was complaining too much). After reflecting on the walk, I had no regrets in enjoying this experience. I started off with layer after layer on this breezy beach, but by the time we finished I tore almost everything off since I was overheating and sweating. This is a do not miss in Olympic national park in the PNW. . . .
Some pics from my camping at Olympic National Park. Visited La Push Beach and Bogachiel river. The lichen trees was something to beholden. The beaches showed the power of Mother Nature with the driftwood. Beautiful and all natural. But chilly. Luckily we had no rain. Hikes were longer than I expected and yes I complained like a MF. Sorry. But no regrets. I am not an outdoorsy person, but Iâm all about experiences. Iâm glad we went now even though it was chilly - got to the low 30s, since it wasnât crowded at all. Fun times, canât wait for the next adventure! More photos to come. . . .
The Godzilla Dog at Sumo Dog at T-Mobile Park in Seattle. Watching the Mariners take on the Angels and savoring a baseball game hot dog. Iâm proudly wearing my Dodger cap and checking out the baseball in Seattle and the ballpark. . . .
Enjoying a Dodger Dog at the game . . .

New Thirsty Pit logo. Was created from an AI tool. Thought I would try it out. Made a few and I liked this one the best. What do you guys think?
Unfortunately for a guy like me with a gout condition, this was a special and rare occasion for me to have AYCE beef or steak. I donât have it often. Yes I know this is a contradiction since Iâm also a certified Barbecue judge. But at least this allows me to savor beef when I have on rare occasions. Anyways . . . My friends and I all would recommend and would gladly return. . . . .group .0
My buddy got the ramen which I think he said was ok. Nothing special. Next time I would try the ramen. They have a Ying yang bowl in which they would have 2 different broths. I think it is gimmicky, but I would try next time. . . . .official
The Portoâs Breakfast Wrap, which is really a breakfast burrito. With eggs, cheese, pork. It was not bad. I do enjoy the pork items at Portoâs so it was natural that I would like their breakfast burrito, errr . . . Wrap. . . .
Anyways⌠of course I would recommend and would return. What also made this night special was the cool private room. I know for western cuisines there are some restaurants with private rooms. But I think when having a large dinner party - private rooms are the way to go! . . .
Unfortunately Top Restaurant only does take out. Make sure you call in the make sure they still have chicken available. I know first hand since this wasnât the first time I tried to get their fried chicken. I recommend this place and I would go again. . . .
I was just expecting to order some potato balls or pastries. But since I haven't been to Porto's in awhile, I was too familiar with their menu. I saw that they had the Cubano! This cuban sandwich, with ham and roasted pork with cheese, is one of my all time favorite sandwiches. When I see it anywhere I almost always order it. And the Porto's version did not disappoint! . . .
Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place. But I would give it another chance to see if they would either improve or if today was an off day. Its too bad, since you see the big in the back - so one of think they know what they are doing. . . . .
I want to discuss the frito pie. Interestingly I grew up in Southern California and I had the frito pie when I playing little league. And it wasnât called that back then. I knew it as pepper bellies - and some times it included beans. I would argue with some of my Midwest friends about this nomenclature about the correct name, which was a non-winning expenditure of mental effortness - which I regret. But after all these not having pepper bellies - it took me back to the good old days of little league. Makes me want to make some at home. . . .
TBH . . .I am not sure I would make the drive again, since it is so far. But if I was to go again, I would try to sneak out during the week, not the weekend. Those lines can get long. Though I might not go again, I do recommend. . . . . đŻ
