Kyoto Wagyu Tonkatsu Ten no Meshi LA, Los Angeles

Katsu at .la.official had waygu and pork katsu. A5 Wagyu Tenderloin Cutlet Set Meal And the Kurobuta Pork Loin & Tenderloin Cutlet Set Meal. With the scallop cutlet topped with salmon roe. The Wagyu pieces were practically raw then they provide a hot stone to sear the beef. Each beef piece was quite tender and had a great mouth feel. Would order again. Make sure you open up yelp and get in line before you arrive - otherwise your wait is way over an hour.

APL BBQ Pop Up, Los Angeles

Barbecue from APL. Beef rib, pork ribs, pulled pork, cornbread, and stuffed pig trotter. Amazing bbq from a Hall of Famer and YETI ambassador - APL Adam Perry Lang. The boneless pig trotter was stuffed with sausage with crispy skin - was absolutely amazing. We got in line at 11:30 with doors opening at 1pm. Was told a couple of their smokers were from Franklins. Would definitely visit again and would absolutely recommend. And worth it to stand in line. We stood in line for about 1.5 hours. . . . \_bbq

Accomplice Bar, Culver City

Taiwanese food at Accomplice. Nice little neighborhood bar with Taiwanese food. Only tried fried tofu and the scallion pancakes. But I think the sauce is more Shanghainese with the sweetness. I am more used to a spicier and less sweet sauce for tifu. And the scallion pancakes, not sure of the vinegar sauce dipping sauce. I think this is more of a china flavor. Plus I think the scallion pancakes seems deep fried rather than the traditional pan fried. I get that this catering more to an American palate. Perhaps the chef is from china, instead of Taiwan. Next time I want to the other dishes. Regardless this is a cool car with a good selection of whiskeys. Almost had the full selection of Nikki whiskeys, they were missing the takesuru and days. I had a glass of the buffalo trace bourbon. They also had a really good green cocktail that was spicy. That was really good. . . . . . .

Vietnamese Dinner tonight at we had pho and chicken curry. The pho is a favorite of my wife’s. I’m ok with it. It’s not something I would go out of my way to choose or order. Therefore my selection of chicken curry with French bread was my pick. The soupy curry, similar to Thai, is not as thick as Japanese - it doesn’t matter much to me.... the chicken quite tender and juicy - which is great but they had bones. I don’t like bones in my curry (Canto cafes curry also has bones 🤬). But I did like the soft crunchy bread used for dipping in the curry. I like this use of carbs.
