The short version

The Thirsty Pig is a personal food blog. It does not collect, store, or share personal information about you. The only thing that watches traffic here is Vercel Analytics, which is cookieless and only sees a hashed page URL and your country — never your IP, browser fingerprint, or session.

What's actually stored

  • A theme preference — If you toggle dark mode, your browser stores your choice locally so the site remembers next visit. This is held in localStorage on your device. It is not sent to any server. Clearing your browser data removes it.
  • Standard server logs — The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps short-term operational logs (IP, user agent, requested URL) for caching and abuse prevention. These are governed by Vercel's privacy policy .
  • Vercel Analytics (cookieless) — Each pageview is counted with a hashed URL plus a coarse country code. No cookies are set; no IP is stored long-term; no cross-site profile is built. See Vercel Analytics privacy policy .

What this site does NOT do

  • No Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no other behavioural trackers.
  • No email/newsletter signup forms.
  • No advertising network. No tracking pixels.
  • No selling, sharing, or transferring of any user data to third parties.

Embedded content

Some posts may embed images or videos hosted on third-party services (Instagram, YouTube, Vimeo). Those services may set their own cookies when their content loads. If you don't visit those services directly from this site, no information about you is sent to them by The Thirsty Pig itself.

Sources of content

Posts on this site come from three places: the original blog (2007–2017, recovered from the Internet Archive), an Instagram data export, and an automated sync from the Thirsty Pig Facebook Page. None of those pipelines collect data about visitors; they only import the author's own posts.
