Lunch at Summer Rolls. Charbroiled pork chop rice plate Com Suon Nuong. And Banh Beo steam rice cakes with shrimp powder. Outdoor seating with Yhe COVID pandemic. Light and healthy dish. But I guess the pork chop was a little heavy . . . . . . .
Cast iron pan pizza. Learned from I had to experiment a few times in order to get the crust just right. Really like this pizza recipe. Yummy! I used regular all purpose flour. Mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and Italian sausage. One ingredient that was a hit was - crumbled spicy breakfast sausage . . . . . .
Cheeseburger Tamales! That’s right! Cheeseburger!!!! Using corn husks and pre-made mixed masa from .supermarkets I experimented and added ground beef 80/20 with burger seasoning and sharp cheddar cheese. Hand packed with a spoon. Steamed in an old rice cooker. Viola!! Done. Best served and eaten immediately. Goes great with . Yup ketchup. The classic flavor combination of a cheeseburger with ketchup and the slight flavor of the traditional corn masa. It is interesting and tastes pretty good. The strong flavors of the cheddar cheese stands out. Let me know if you would try this or if you have a unique mash up! What do you guys think? . . . . . . .supermarkets
Boba and popcorn chicken from Boba Ave. Nice little restaurant that has driv thru for boba drinks and Taiwanese popcorn chicken. . . . . . . .
Carnitas! Pork shoulder with spices in the pressure cookers then under the broiler for crispness. . . . . .
Pickling! Pickled red onions and carrots & daikon radish. The pickled red onions needed to soak longer before putting on the carnitas but I couldn’t wait to try. Will try more later this week. Love the combination of carnitas and pickled red onions! Will do proper canning to preserve longer next time. . . . . .
Fish tacos and ceviche/aquachiles con mango. Yummy. I think the fish was marlin and was grilled. Different and had interesting texture. The flavor was really good. Would recommend this place. . . . . . .
The Smosh Town burger. Crispy and tasty burgers! Tarot tots with chili and cheese. Yum . . . . .
Japanese sandwiches from Pillow Talk in Pasadena. Egg heaven and the Okonomiyaki sandwiches. Yummy. I love eggs. . . . . . .
Sandwiches from Lil Pickle. Had the Lil' Pickle Sub with Salami, Capicolla, Cheese with Oil and Italian Dressing. And buddy got the hot pastrami. The lil pickle sub is their most popular sandwich - I can see why. It is a solid sandwich with nice soft bread and good meats. But unfortunately I was craving more flavor - since I was chomping on a sour pickle with every bite of the sandwich. Maybe a little more salt or some spicy peppers were needed. Perhaps my friend was on target with the savory pastrami. Regardless I would try this place again to get a better gauge. . . . . .
