Really good sandwich from All'Antico Vinaio. This was the La Paradiso with Mortadella, stracciatella, pistachio cream, pistachio. This was their most popular sandwich. I first found and heard of this
Pasta Sisters in Culver City. Pappardelle with Pesto with Burrata Cheese. Arugula salad. And Pappardelle with a Ragu sauce. The pastas and sauces were all very good. Good chew on the pasta. The table bread was not toasted but had good olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Solid meal. I'd come back to try other things. . . .
Happy Hour at Sara the Wine Bar. Bruschetta, margarhetti pizza, seafood pasta. Fresh pasta made in-house. Cool little spot that’s not too crowded. Would return and would recommend . . . . .
The Arnold Palmer at The Old Spaghetti Factory. Remember the Hollywood location back in the day? Now the closet one is in Duarte. This Italian American is a friend’s favorite. I didn’t realize how popular it was, even on a weekday late lunch time. . . . . .
Early lunch/brunch at L’antica in Hollywood. Breakfast pizza, margherita pizza, and Pappardelle Genovese pasta. Enjoyed all the dishes. Too bad they didn’t have bloody marys. . . . . . .
Pizza at CPK. Garlic Chicken Pizza on cauliflower crust and the “Works” Pizza. This place never disappoints. Consistency and interesting. You don’t find these topping combinations typically at other places . . . .
Pizza! Sapori Di in Altadena. They have a nice pizza oven hearth and they serve up some pretty good pizza. The crust had a nice texture and chew. I really liked it! . . . .
Affogato at Eataly. A new favorite drink (or dessert). What is it? It sounds like avocado (which is how I will remember it). The Classico is espresso with a couple of scoops of Fior Di Latte Gelato (a sweet heavy cream milk gelato, originally/mistakenly thought as just vanilla ice cream). This sort of Root Beer Float is pretty good. The gelato sweetens the espresso and makes a yummy icey coffee drink. . . . . . . . I was feeling blue with my nails today 🤪
The famous clam pizza at Lombardi’s. Also had the chicken parmesan, half white and sausage pizza, and an Italian salad. Solid pizza! . . .
Pizza and pasta at Gelso & Grand. And hello to our new friends from LA! . . .
Old School Italian tonight with old friends. Linguine and clams in red sauce and linguine with shrimp in pesto sauce. We started with the classic fried calamari and finished with a slice of tiramisu. . . . .restaurant
Dinner with friends at Sixth+Mill pizzeria. . . .
The Godmother at Bay Cities Italian Deli in Santa Monica. One of LA’s favorite sandwiches. But not mine. The bread is almost unbearably hard and rips the roof of my mouth. The meats and cheese were quite good. Make sure you order ahead or look for the premise sandwiches to save time. . . .
Custom Pies at Blaze Pizza. . . . .
My favorite pizza joint. Zelo pizza in Arcadia. Cornmeal crust! Had half the eggplant & sausage pizza and the other half pepperoni. Yum!. . . . .
Pizza with friends at Enoteca on Court, in Carroll Gardens Brooklyn. Started with a Caesar salad and octopus salad. Then had a sausage and mushroom pizza and a prosciutto and arugula pizza. Solid thin crust pizza. . . . .
Dinner with an old friend from Shanghai. Got a same day reservation at Babbo. Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich’s Italian restaurant. We started off by sharing a baby wild arugula salad. Then I had the linguine with clams, pancetta, and hot chilies. Wife had the black spaghetti with rock shrimp, spicy salami, calabrese, and green chilies. And our friend got the cavatelli with Costolettr di maiale. Unfortunately I can re-pronounce, nor remember what some of these dishes are unless I look at the picture. But I know they tasted good and had great texture. We also shared a whole grilled branzino - light flakey and just right. Might have been too much food. But it was good. I wasn’t really looking for anything high end on this trip, but Babbo’s availability opened up - and I couldn’t refuse. Pricey, but well worth it. . . .
Sunday lunch with old friends at the old spaghetti factory
Dinner at Rossoblu. Northern Italian cuisine. Had the Salumi plate and braised pork meat balls to start. Then went for the MALTAGLIATI, RISOTTO and NONNA’S TAGLIATELLE AL RAGU’ BOLOGNESE. And finished off with MILK-BRAISED PORK SHOULDER and DRY-AGED HOLSTEIN BEEF TAGLIATA
Pizza Night . Had the Alla’nduja pizza, the magherita pizza, roasted heirloom cauliflower, Mussels & Clams, pork belly alla plancha and the Spaghetti Rustichella. The mussels & clams were memorable with the spicy broth. The pizza crust had a nice texture and chewiness. The spaghetti with crab meat was also very good. Overall was a success! sorry for the Alla’njuda pizza picture being out of focus.
Pizza near the Manhattan Bridge near DUMBO. We paid over $2 a slice. “Never pay more than a buck”.
Porchetta Sandwich at A tasty sandwich. But was a little disappointed in how they prepared it. I though they were going to pull out a large chunk of the rolled porchetta and have a big slice for my sandwich - instead it was chopped pork from a warming container. I expected bold flavors from the spice rub, yet was overwhelmed by green chutney. Right before they closed the sandwich, they added chopped pieces of the chicarrons/pork skin. If I didn’t I would have been more than happy. Then we also shared the cheeseburger poutine. The kids loved it. I wish they chopped the burger patty, like I asked them to.
Pizza, pasta, canoli, gelato, and lasagna at the pizza crust was good, but a little greasy in the middle. The Lasagna was pleasantly better than expected. The meat sauce was good. Ate too much. Suggestion: Go early to avoid the crowds and waits
Dinner at in We had the sausage pizza, the lasagna, Caesar salad, Mac & cheese, and portobello mushroom fries. Also had a couple of the woodchuck Apple cider - yum! The lasagna was one of the best I have ever had. The pizza and Caesar were as expected, as was the Mac & cheese. The portobello mushroom fries were quite good - fried with a little cheese and a good sauce.
the Detroiter and Cadillac pizza. The detroiter - pepperoni and the Cadillac- prosciutto with balsamic vinegar. Cadillac was better than expected

One of the best Italian dining experiences I’ve had in LA Could best my argument that Shanghai has better Italian than LA Has a subdued, yet festive space mandilli di seta – handkerchief pasta, liguri
I was here over the summer with family and relatives. And this is the ideal place to bring large crowds. Though its a chain, it does have a feel of a New York Italian restaurant, maybe on steroids. Wi
What is Papa Mario’s? Every neighborhood needs a casual pizza joint, where everyone knows your name. Even in Shanghai, you’ll find just such one, Papa Mario’s. Near peoples’ square, Da Papa Mario’s is
Italian restaurants in Shanghai are some of the best. I’d argue that Shanghai would rank near the top worldwide with its diverse Italian restaurant scene. Here are the some of the top ones I have visi
Sometimes food prepared the traditional simple manner is all you need. But of course you need quality ingredients. Echo and her husband, Antonio have done just that. With imported Italian floor, spice

Traditional pizzas nowadays are tough to find. Pizza Hut, Domino’s, and Papa John’s dominate public perception of what a pizza is suppose to be like. Nuevo pies, such as California Pizza Kitchen, Wolf
What is lacks in spectacular opulence that Angeleno’s are used to, it makes up with solid Italian fare. You might pay more for the ambiance and food at Drago Centro, but at Colori Kitchen makes up wit
We looking for a simple restaurant in the Xujiahui area after a morning get together with my classmates. I hate to say, Da Marco’s was a choice by default, since we couldn’t find anything else nearby.
Perhaps I should have made a few more visits to Bottega Louie, but with the suggestion of some friends, I knew I had to visit this place. The space occupies a prime 1st floor space on a corner in the

Here are three sites that I came across about Pizza. One is about a one man’s quest to make a great pizza – in Atlanta. Another is from men’s magazine that talks about US’s top 25 pizzas. And the last
The appetizer was a lobster ravioli with red pepper sauce. Great concept, but missing a kick. The asparagus salad was blanched perfectly, but needed a bit more dressing drizzled. Main course consisted
