Cheeseburger Tamales

Cheeseburger Tamales! That’s right! Cheeseburger!!!! Using corn husks and pre-made mixed masa from .supermarkets I experimented and added ground beef 80/20 with burger seasoning and sharp cheddar cheese. Hand packed with a spoon. Steamed in an old rice cooker. Viola!! Done. Best served and eaten immediately. Goes great with . Yup ketchup. The classic flavor combination of a cheeseburger with ketchup and the slight flavor of the traditional corn masa. It is interesting and tastes pretty good. The strong flavors of the cheddar cheese stands out. Let me know if you would try this or if you have a unique mash up! What do you guys think? . . . . . . .supermarkets

Ike's Love & Sandwiches, Costa Mesa

Sandwiches from Lil Pickle. Had the Lil' Pickle Sub with Salami, Capicolla, Cheese with Oil and Italian Dressing. And buddy got the hot pastrami. The lil pickle sub is their most popular sandwich - I can see why. It is a solid sandwich with nice soft bread and good meats. But unfortunately I was craving more flavor - since I was chomping on a sour pickle with every bite of the sandwich. Maybe a little more salt or some spicy peppers were needed. Perhaps my friend was on target with the savory pastrami. Regardless I would try this place again to get a better gauge. . . . . .

Birria tacos, carne asada nachos, and ceviche. Yum. The tacos had so much braised beef, but unfortunately was a little dry. Wish we had a dipping sauce. Luckily the hot sauce was available. The nachos were great but was too much. The ceviche was good but the fish had a slight smell. Perhaps that was normal. I wonder what kind of fish was in the ceviche. Regardless I would still return. This place has so many things I want to try. . . . .
